OneQuoteDirect - Policy Amendment Charges Warning!

Hi all,

I wanted to share my experience with onequotedirect whom I have recently purchased a car insurance policy with. I had not heard of this company previously however it came up as the cheapest when using the normal comparison websites.

After they had sent me my policy I realised some details needed amending. What I didn't realise was that their standard admin fee to change the policy is £50 which is obviously totally disproportionate to the real cost to their business. After threatening to leave they dropped this to £35. However my previous insurer, Admiral, only charged ~£20.

A word of warning to people who chose to do business with this company - the cost of amending your policy could negate any savings!

Cheers
Greg

And you are an expert on their business pricing and costs?

    So?
Ask three plumbers to do a job and you get three different prices

The point of the pricing model they use is that it is cheap premium (potentially) but you pay explicit charges when you create admin outside of the norm. Some charge more than others. No different to any other retail business.

The pricing is based on an average. Some people may be in the phone for 3 minutes. Others for 30 minutes. They have a one sized fee to cover all the typical admin tasks they get. The charge also allows for profit.
