I've only recently started to use my Barclays Student Account heavily so please excuse my ignorance.

I paid an amount of £70 to put my company account into credit and was given a reference number to confirm it had gone through and showed my account as being in credit after 24 hours. This was around a week and a half or two ago.

Logging onto Online banking I see a sum of £70 has been taken from my account on the 29/08/2012, changing my balance.
As Online Banking doesn't let me see more then a few transactions, I can't get to the original date I transferred £70 to see if there was a balance change then. (But I assume there must have been as I was informed of a successful transaction as my account was shown to be in credit)

In effect, what I'm asking is if this £70 that has been taken out is my payment from two weeks ago (and if so why it wasn't taken out two weeks ago)

Or does it look like the company has made a mistake and taken out an additional £70? I did ring them up asking for all transactions they'd received and they confirmed they had received £70 two weeks ago. There was no mention of a transaction of £70 on the 29/08/2012/, but could this because it's a Saturday/it hasn't gone through?

This is at best confusing, so I will try to clarify anything I've written.
Thank you for any help, I think it's high time I started reading up on the basics of banking!!

How did you pay this company? Via a debit card?

Do Barclays not let you see old statements online?

You are right - it's confusing and I don't really understand what you are saying. But making one or two assumptions:

the most likely explanation is that funds were reserved/authorised a week or so back and actually taken on 29th or whenever - a delay is common though not normally as long as this.

Or it could be a mistake

Or you could have forgotten a transaction
