Facebook help

I've just started comping since Martin's email recently ( and a huge thank you to all who post the comps) and loving it.
I've answered a lot of comps through Facebook but when I tried to log into facebook yesterday it says I have been disabled for a fake id!!!! It seems odd that its since I've started doing this. Has anyone else had this and what can I do to get re instated? I have not used a fake id but have occasionally used my other email address as I don't want loads of spam going to my regular email. Do you think this could be the problem.
I've tried to contact facebook but they don't reply - just a standard email back.

Facebook is going through names, and banning people with fake names,
you may notice theres not many left with MSE in their title as most people using that have already been banned.
The advice is use only your real name dont have loads of comp friends as that will get you banned quicker, make a couple of posts about weather or whatever daily and upload the odd photo.

And dont comment on every comp you do on fb that gets you banned from posting on fb for 15 days (lots of us on here had that) - its classed as spam.
Also DONT do many 'tag' photo comps each day, as thats the biggest problem on fb and will get you banned very quick.

Thanks for the reply vanpopple. I've only ever used my real name and don't have any comp friends!! I don't comment on the comps I've gone in for as I don't want all my friends having to read them. I'm not sure how to "tag" a comp so don't know if I've done that.
Anyone any ideas how I can get reinstated please?
    Many thanks

  • I use my real name on FB but I often wondered for those who don't - what would happen if you won a cheque. Say it was payable to OUAD Mse, how on would you pay that into your bank?

It's a tricky one for sure. I've had just a quick peek to see if I could find something useful and couldn't - but it was a very quick look. I found someone who said their friend had their FB account closed and emailed a few years ago, and was still waiting for a reply!

I know they don't want people to have 2 accounts, but I wonder what you/others think about in this situation opening another account and starting again with that. If you get your first account reinstated then I would suggest closing one of them.

I hope I don't have to eat these words, but so far, I haven't had any probs using FB for comping, though I have a number of proper friends their too. I tend to only share comps where that is essential, or gets me an extra comp entry. If it's just an offer to share, I very rarely do - unless it's something I know my friends would really like.

I also warned my friends that they might need to change settings for me, so they don't keep getting emailed every time I post.

I wonder if what happens is that 'a friend' gets fed up with comp notifications and then reports their 'friend' to FB.

Good luck sorting it, and do let us know if you get anywhere.

Hi. Yes it kinda looks like there's very little chance of getting anything but an automated reply from facebook. Reading up on it all makes me think they're pretty rubbish actually but a bit of a necessary evil. I've never had thousands of friends so can't imagine anyone reporting me for the comp listings without contacting me first and I try not to comment cos I don't want my friends inundated.
Anyway I'll try setting up a new account and see if thats ok, I'll just be careful what facebook comps I go in for.
    Thanks for all your comments
