Capital HP / Open & Direct PPI

Hi Guys – Need a bit of advice with a PPI claim.
Way back in 2003 I bought a car from Reg Vardy in Reading, Berkshire. This dealership was later replaced by Evans Halshaw and finally, the pictures on Google maps shows a demolition site in its place. I think it’s safe to the car dealership is no longer there.
I used a 0% Hire Purchase to finance the purchase of the car. The HP was provided by Capital Bank and I wrote to them requesting the credit agreement and T&C’s. They sent back the requested information but they was no reference to any PPI.
With a bit more digging around, I found a reference in an old bank statement which reads “OPEN& DIRECT . Vxxxxxx/Gxxxxxx” with a note saying Capital Protection Plan. So it looks like the PPI was completely separate from Capital.
With Reg Vardy no longer in existence, I would like to write to Open & Direct but results back from Google show there are a few different addresses (or companies?)
Open + Direct, Manchester (Part of Swinton)
Open & Direct Retail Services, NRL (now Creation)
Does anyone know which Open & Direct would the PPI have been with a Capital HP and a possible address? Or should I go back to Capital to find out info?
Thanks
Danny

If the policy was sold by the garage then they would be responsible for the sale of the insurance, rather than the company that provided the finance (who didn't interact with you).
Reg Vardy appear to have been taken over and so you may still be able to address the complaint to the company that replaced them.

Although saying this, insurance regulations didn't come into force until 2005 and so the garage won't be covered by the Financial Ombudsman Service. If the garage reject the complaint you would be short of options.
They probably sold you a monthly policy (rather than a lump sum policy) and so it might also be hard to show the policy was mis-sold anyway.0 -
Reg Vardy (Financial Services) Limited is the former name of Pendragon Finance and Insurance Services Limited of
Loxley House
2 Oakwood Court
Little Oak Drive
Annesley
Nottingham
Nottinghamshire
NG15 0DR
A complaint to them MIGHT be successful. It might also be rejected but you may then be able to take them to FOS if they subscribed to the GISC code at the time.
However, I do agree that a monthly premium policy was probably correctly sold.0 -
