ebay novice.... advice needed !!

Hi I have never sold anything on ebay, but have bought the ocasional item.

Due to a recent bereavement I have some things to sell.
I have 48 brand new magazines, still in their original postage envelopes from 1975 - 1978 ( I won't mention the name as I am not trying to sell them here !!) I have seen them sold in pairs on ebay. It seems a shame to split a complete collection up, however if I did try to sell all 48 together the cost in postage would be horrendous.

Does anyone have any advice / experience on what would be the best thing to do ?

Thanks

you could try for local pick up only. The buyer may then ask if they can arrange their own courier to collect.

the other point with magazines is that collectors rarely need a "full set" so to speak, so you may get more selling individually, though the listing fees will of course be inreased.

have you looked to see if their is a web or forum site dedicated to the magazine or the genre it pertains to? you may get some joy there
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

  • I'd have a go at selling them as one collection first, if you put something in the listing on the lines of 'I'm selling these as a collection of 48 but if they don't sell I will split them up in future listings'.
The courier service Jake mentioned is ideal for this.

I can't see any harm in mentioning the name, you might get more tailored advice if you do. Personally I would list them individually and offer combined postage if they want more than 1.

Most magazine collectors are after only a few to fill in gaps in their collection. Or some people are after one issue of a magazine that cover a particular project or person. Hard to say without more details. Some craft magazines are highly sought after!

  • Hi thanks for the comments , the magazines are Country Music People (not my thing at all ....LOL )
Still on the go now though, I did look on the web site and there is someone selling a collection so that is a possibility. Can I advertise in both places.. or is that not "allowed "
