Car Insurance Quote

Ok, for the first time I'm actually doing a proper shop around for a decent and cheap insurance policy. I went through a broker last year via Axa and got a reasonable quote that worked out at £24 per month including breakdown cover and legal asstnce. The same broker have quoted £33 per month (hike of £9 pm). I phoned Axa directly and they can do the same policy for £25 pm with the same extras. I think this is pretty good and am tempted to go for it however I wish to see if I can do even better. Have read some stories of people getting super cheap insurance - although bearing in mind that I live in N Ireland would this be possible?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

M

Look at the links at the top of this thread, and follow them through. Where it says roadside assistance from £9pa.

  • I've literally just renewed my car insurance, More Than wanted £458.75 (£41.66 p/m or £499.92 after interest) on a 3 year old owned from new Toyota Yaris TR 1.3.

This was up by over £10 a month from last year despite an extra years no claims discount.

5 minutes shopping around and I'm now with "Quote Me Happy" at £17.xx a month or £204 per year. That's a hell of a difference - nearly £300 in my pocket for the sake of 5 minutes work.

This includes free legal cover and a courtesy car and less of an excess than More Than too.

I did phone More Than to see if they would match, but they said they could only offer £65 discount from their price. Even their online price was cheaper than their renewal by £10 a month, but still too dear for me. Cancellation was swift with them, and the lady I spoke to was lovely, cancellation notice should be in with me next week.

Hopefully this gives someone and idea of the savings to be made and not just letting things roll.

  • Insurance renewals are essentially a laziness tax these days. Although if the renewal quote is only £15 or so more than the comparison sites I'll just let the policy renew for an easy life.

    Hi there

That's a fab outcome, good on you. Can you tell me which insurer you went through via 'Quote Me Happy'?

    Thanks

I went through confused.com ironically, which worked out slightly cheaper than going directly through the quote me happy website direct.

The reason it was cheaper was by going through the comparison site i.e. confused.com they gave me free legal cover.

There is no paper documents, and everything looks like it's handled online apart from claims where there is a phone number.

Oh and you get nectar points too, but dare I say I don't have a nectar card, but you do get I think it was 60 days to claim your reward.

Hope this helps. (Still in shock at the saving for so little work, a lesson to be learned).

Quote Me Happy is the brand used by Aviva on comparison sites, so they are the insurer.
