The meter was replaced because it had "reached the end of its 30 year life', and replacement "is required by law".
I was not aware that the old meter was inaccurate until I started getting bills showing 25% less usage, when my usage has not changed.
Yes, its called recertification.
The year it is allowed in your property is available online.
Perhaps you could check if it was changed after the required time? Many thousands of meters are left in beyond this time and this is a failure on your suppliers part (provided you hadn't blocked their access, but they could pursue a warrant) so this might help your case.

Your supplier can retrieve the model number if you don't know it as they keep this data for years.
In terms of accuracy, any meter whether older or newer technology is considered to be accurate until it reaches the end of its life on the schedule. I just wanted to make that point because that's coming from the NMO, Ofgem, etc so that argument wouldn't work. Meters don't go wrong once passed their life automatically anyway or the meter can go wrong from day 1 of installation.
Try and track the meter down for testing as the supplier may fight all the way on your monitoring. The supplier will also consider the possibility that your current meter is slow but they can test this onsite and make sure you are not charged for this as its in their interests to check, not yours.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
