Can anyone advise or direct to any online guides for creating one of these my self as they seem to be somewhat expensive for what they are - needs access door and area when tall adult can stand in too .

I'd be inclined to start with a large shed. Do be wary of it getting damp in winter, are you going to be able to provide heated pads? If the whole thing is for three cats it would need to be quite large, could you catproof your fencing instead?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
We've just made a cat enclosure in our garden as one of our Bengals was waaayyy too adventurous and went to the edge of a busy road which is quite a long way from our house in cat terms, and which none of my other cats have ever done in 15 years of living here.... ho hum! So instead of enjoying the freedom of the big field behind our house, the two Bengals have about a third of our garden enclosed just for them. The three moggies are still allowed free rein as they don't wander that far.
Anyway, I've blogged about how it was built here: http://www.bengalcatworld.com/home/0 -

This is quite good, easy & cheap http://www.pawesome.net/2010/07/diy-feral-cat-shelters-pet-projects/
Basically buy 2 plastic boxes (can get these cheap at £stretcher etc) - ensuring one fits comfortably inside the other. Line them up (put something underneath the inner one - something like straw) and cut holes through both. Put the lid on the inner box (you could put a duvet / fleece blanket etc inside it) and pack the sides and top around the inner box with more straw. You can get a thick tube (drain pipe etc) and cut to stick in to fill the gaps between the 2 entrance holes & also stop and sharp bits.
Put somewhere sheltered with the entrance away from the prevailing wind - you might need to weigh down with some bricks on the top depending how windy it gets where you are & if there are no bushes etc that hold it in.
Hope that makes sense - please say if it doesn't!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
