Do you get charged for replacements in an online shopping?

So i have done plenty previous online shops and usually there are replacement items, i can't remember if you pay for the price of the replacement of if your original bill stays the same regardless of any price change on a replacement.
Reason i am asking is that i have just ordered an online shop from asda and i now have about 10p left in the bank(or i will when the order is taken from my bank on Monday), also the money doesn't actually come out of your account till the day of the order, so idon't want to find that a replacement item would be more than i have in the bank, any ideas?

When I've done online shops with Tesco in the past if they replace an item with something of a higher value I only got charged the lower price - so you shouldn't get charged any more regardless of what gets replaced. HTH0

I had an online delivery with ASDA earlier this week, I will type out what the back page says.
"If or any reason we're unable to deliver a product you've ordered online:
We always aim to offer you a suitable alternative in its place.
We may have to subtitute it for a larger size or more expensive brand - but you won't be charged extra.
We'll glady refund any substitutions you're not happy with.
For more information simply ask your personal delivery driver."
Hope that helps you.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0 -

The only one who don't do it is sainsburys, they will substitute but will charge you the price of the item they gave you. My bill was 2 quid more Expensive due to this but the delivery man said he would say one of my items was damaged and made the difference up that way. I was lucky that I had a really nice delivery man as this normally don't happen x0

Unfortunately Sainsburys do charge, i cant comment on the others but i presume they work on the same premise with Sainsbury's that you can reject and subs made/you do get notified of these.0

Ocado charge also but waitrose don't they will only charge you the lower price. Xx0

I've gained quite well at times.
For instance I ordered 4 jars of smartprice mint sauce and they delivered 4 jars of Coleman's mint sauce instead for the lower price.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I think you're cutting it a bit fine if you're going to be left with only 10p in your bank account. The price you pay for the shopping is what it is on the day of delivery, so the cost of some things may have gone up between now and then. The price you're told it is when you place the order is only a guide price.0

I agree with Gigervamp you are cutting it a bit fine.
Don't Asda (and Tesco I believe) charge your account with a nominal fee of around £2 first to check the payment will go through. It is later refunded but I'm not sure it gets refunded before the full cost comes out iykwim.
It's only a game

That is cutting it very fine, I've been known to do a shop then supermarket ring me on the day and say they can't deliver as my card payment has delined. It's a right pain. I always leave clear at least £5 as the guide price can differ slightly, although it shouldn't by more than about £1.50.
About 5 weeks ago tesco cancelled my shop because my account was 14p short of funds, I asked them to just take one thing off at the till and bring my shop because I was desperate but they aren't authorised to do so because of stock levels.
Other posters have answered your original question though, most supermarkets don't charge for subs. Only ones I know that do charge are sainsburys and ocado. The Year Of DreamsBig Love To All Comp Sharers
