Ikea £100 kitchen planning service

Hi, I will be buying an Ikea kitchen shortly and wondered if it was worth paying for the £100 planning service. I have a basic plan in my head but am open to other suggestions.

So, what exactly do I get for my money? Will they cost everything up for me and tell me exactly what to buy? Has anyone used this servcie and was it worth it?

Many thanks

Access the planning software yourself and DIY it. Save you £ 100. This is MSE after all! :D

Lobster - do it yourself, I had a few "free" designs done and they were all rubbish and did not suit my kitchen which is long and narrow. I tried the software but it was a pain to use as I am not good at visualising in 3D. It sounds time consuming but what I did was make a scale model of my kitchen in a cardboard box and then made different sizes cubes and rectangles out of card for cupboards etc, scaled to the Ikea kitchen size. I then played around with all the bits until I was happy with the layout. I love my kitchen, and it has been well admired by friends.

    Hi,

Thank you both for the advice :D Think I'll try to save myself £100 then.

I too have a long narrow kitchen and it has been driving me crazy trying to work out the "perfect" design. :(

The software is quite easy to drive once you get used to it (like anything really). Practice on any old rectangle for ½ an hour then have a go at the real thing.
