I have already got myself on the property ladder and am looking as investing money else where to make more which is what everyone is trying to do.
Just wanted to know where to start really as not sure who to talk to or which company will pay out the best return the quickest.
I have heard of a thing called merchant banking in europe which u lend the bank X amount of money so they can loan out to businesses to secure a deal or something and you get something like double the amount back nearly within a week or so but i am just saying on what i was told really. i know there is a risk of loosing it anyway.
if anyone could point me in the correct direction it would be gr8 thanks

Start here ( not the tipping service, scroll down for links to articles ). Have a look at the discussion boards too.I have heard of a thing called merchant banking in europe which u lend the bank X amount of money so they can loan out to businesses to secure a deal or something and you get something like double the amount back nearly within a week or so but i am just saying on what i was told really. i know there is a risk of loosing it anyway.
Getting a good return on investments takes time - impatience will cost you money in the long run.0 -
There is a website called zopa that I've seen discussed on the news, where people lend money to each other. The returns are much lower though, more like the interest you would get in a bank account.

Please don't think about the merchant banking idea. If you are new to investing it might be best for you to keep it simple. First you need to decide on your attitude to risk. If you want your money to be safe you could find the best paying one year bond unless you need to have instant access to it and even then there are some on line accounts paying very good rates. If you don't mind a little bit of risk you could start by investing a fixed sum monthly in a fund which has a good manager and which has been doing well over the short and medium term i.e. last twelve months - 3 years. There are many web sites you can search to find this information. And don't forget your ISA allowance for the new tax year. I am about to invest in an account which is for over 60s only (not an ISA). It is paying 6% gross but for only one year after which it drops to 5.25% but I will move it again then. It is instant access too. So, if you have an idea what you would like to invest in come back and people might be able to give better advice.0
