Hi,
I have a reasonably bad credit rating. (currently in a DMP). My employee are going to be providing me with a company credit card soon for business expenses.
Will my personal credit rating affect my ability to have one?
I.e. when they apply to Barclaycard to give me one, will Barclaycard be aware, and potentially refuse? (they ask for home address etc.)
Slightly nervous about being refused and the subsequent embarassment

Let's just hope your company uses vanquis.
Joking aside not really sure how they would get around it or how company credit cards work.0 -

Normally with Barclaycard the company is liable for charges, so they probably won't even credit check you, whereas Amex corporate cards actually credit check each person and if the business goes bust, the employee is liable.
So you should be fine with Barclaycard.0 -

This has been my experience in the past with a number of company credit cards including Amex.

Company credit cards are credit checked against the company
Some companies ask you to apply for one of their corporate cards and then the individual is checked.
So if the company is taking the liability (ie the company applies for the card in your name) then you wont get credit checked.0 -
Barclaycard didn't perform any searches on me when i was issued a company barclaycard recently
Although i do already have a non business barclaycard0 -
Thanks all, I wonder why the card gets registered to my home address then? I.e that's the registered address for online transactions for example0

The company is checked and liable - no checks are made on you.
For purposes of convenience, the registered office of the company (particularly in a firm with multiple offices) will often not be relevant for booking hotels etc, so they ask for your address.
I have a dreadful credit rating frankly, despite having fixed matters. I'll be fully clear around 2014 but right now I couldn't even get credit for a used car (I suspect)!
However I have a black card provided for my work, with some insane limit on it, as I need to often book weeks at a time in hotels for myself and colleagues.
Don't stress it at allI didn't! I had a contingency plan in place to blame a malicious ex-wife if there were any questions raised, but nothing of the sort happened when they issued it to me.
Debt free, moved, got new stuff for the new flat - got everything I wanted and need - now just saving.0 -
I have an HSBC issued company CC with a £10K limit. I wasn't credit checked despite having to give my DOB and address. No searches have ever shown up on my Experian or Equifax records.
Statement is sent to company address and any online purchases or bookings for flights/hotels/car hire I always use the company address.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
