Car insurance for a car on loan from friend?

My car was in the garage and it basically needs to be scrapped as i can't pay for a new engine.
A friend is offering me a lend of his car until i can get one, myself but how does my car insurance work out.
Do i change my insurance over to my friends car? as i will have it for at least 2 weeks or does he put me on his insurance?
I don't want a gap in my insurance.
Any advice would be grateful.

It won't be straightforward to put it on your insurance (problem over you not being the owner).

Easiest will be if you are put as a temporary named driver on your friend's policy.

Failing that you can see if you can get reasonably priced short term cover.
  • Thank you very much for that.
