Lost parcels & chemical spill - help!

Hallo. I posted some (beautifully packaged and clearly labelled) parcels on the 22nd which have not turned up. On the Royal Mail's website it says there was a chemical spill at the distribution centre and all mail posted on that day will be delayed. I just wondered if anyone has any more information on this. I just wondered how long I should give it before putting in lost parcels claims? And will I get my money back in the same way as if the parcels had just got lost in the normal manner?!

Hi
I've just looked at the RM site and it looks as though no one will get any compensation as they state "...no refunds will be made as Royal Mail has enforced its Force Majeure"
So I hope your parcel got through, otherwise you could have problems along with many others - good luck.0 -
"...no refunds will be made as Royal Mail has enforced its Force Majeure"
What does that mean? The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0 -
Oh gawd, this could end up costing me money if none of the parcels arrive...
What I find odd about the website is that if you try and find any information about claiming for lost parcels in general it takes you to the chemical spill page. Surely, people who posted stuff before or after this date can still claim for compensation.0 -

basically, they don't have to pay out due to a natural disaster or an "act of god"
But presumably if the chemical spill turns out to be the fault of someone not doing their job properly/not following health and safety etc it won't be an act of God! I don't think I'll suggest this to the Royal Mail, I won't get very far methinks.0 -
