Third Party Insurance

My son is working in Italy as a travel rep, he has been given a company car, a few weeks ago he was in a collision with a motor scooter, which amitted liabily,he only had third party insurance, my sons employer is asking for 500 euros for the excess on insurance, i always thought that third party paid for the car you damaged and not your own , so surely the motor scooter should be paying, not my son. Any advise welcome

Your right, the excess would only be payable by your son if a claim was made from the other party. The other party is liable for all costs.

You are talking about UK law, if the accident happened in Italy it would be governed by Italian law which may be totally different to the UK.0
