Third Party Insurance

My son is working in Italy as a travel rep, he has been given a company car, a few weeks ago he was in a collision with a motor scooter, which amitted liabily,he only had third party insurance, my sons employer is asking for 500 euros for the excess on insurance, i always thought that third party paid for the car you damaged and not your own , so surely the motor scooter should be paying, not my son. Any advise welcome :)

Your right, the excess would only be payable by your son if a claim was made from the other party. The other party is liable for all costs.

    The daft bats.

  • You are talking about UK law, if the accident happened in Italy it would be governed by Italian law which may be totally different to the UK.
