Is Npower trying to con me?
I have had a letter come through the post today saying I owe npower £168.80 but a month ago we were £50 in credit when I changed energy supplier. They said its due to the final meter read, however they took a meter reading 3 months ago. So I hardly think I have used £220 in energy over 3 months.
my wife is only person on account and they won't talk to me coz of data protection. she is away until november, so she can't talk to them.
note i'm only person living in the house, I need some advice on what I can do, keeping in mind that i'm not allowed to talk about the account with npower.

write to them, but if its an actual read whats to disputeDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

what im disputing is that reading, for instance the past month I have only used 8 units of gas and 100kwh of electricity if you x that by 3 then thats only 24 and 300 give or take coz its an estimate. I paid them £84 per month anyway. so 24 and 300 of gas and electricity won't cost around £450 would it. I unfortunately binned the book that said how much they charge per unit but i knows its only p's per unit.0

Did you provide a switch reading to your new supplier? If not, it is Deemed.
If you have only just switched and you believe it to be too high, check your meter to see if its lower.
Can your wife email them?:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
I will try to get her to e-mail them. They are sending out a breakdown of the final bill.
I really don't understand energy suppliers, I gave EDF a couple of meter readings over the month and they still estimate my consumption and over do it by £16.66, 100 units on electricity and 5 on gas. I mean come on how hard to it to give me an accurate bill when I'm submitting readings.0 -

You may or may not be right with your concerns but you overlook one factor. The NPower final bill readings and the Edf opening bill readings should be identical. Either the readings you provided to Edf, or if the readings were not validated, readings agreed between Edf and NPower, or if you failed to provide transfer readings to Edf, deemed (or estimated) readings.
You need to establish that before you go further. Be aware that if your NPower tariff had seasonal weighting of primary units the average unit price on your closing bill could be more than you expected and also any already credited but not yet earned "deferred discount" may have been clawed back.0 -

I think i get the jist of what your saying, I will just have to wait for the break down and what they say the final meter reading is. I know I gave EDF accurate readings from my meter and within the time limit set to give it in.0 -
Are your readings showing on the new suppliers side? Are they showing on the old suppliers side?
They have to match.
If they don't, someone isn't following the correct process. Keep an open mind on this part as it easily be the new supplier. There are certain questions to ask if this is the case but its not worth going through all that until you establish the issue.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
