Cold Months Ahead

When is the Government and the Energy Companies actually going to realise that thousands and thousands of households will be unable able to heat their homes this Winter through total fear of not being able to pay their fuel bills. Our supplier is British Gas and no matter what your problems are or the difficulties you face, all they want is that you pay extortionate amounts for their supplies. "Switch suppliers they say". "They are all a rip off and always will be" I say. When the amount of profit they receive gets bigger and bigger and the amount of tax the Government receives from them gets bigger and bigger, nothing will change except that families will get poorer and poorer. Never mind though, everyone should go out and party after the recent news that house prices have gone up by £1500. There can't possibly be any better news than that can there? If the price of gas supplies get increased at source and the Gas companies have to pass this increase on in part. Then why do the profits keep increasing ? Surely they would stay the same, or actually decrease. This would have more regard of the public's thoughts and then they could actually stomach slightly more the lies they tell.
At the moment, even basic living standards in this country of ours is at an all time low. Normally, the majority of people can get by fairly easily with little outside pressure, yet people are getting angrier and angrier and becoming desperate. These families aren't all out of work, I'm talking about families working full time and still can't cope. The story this week about someone tapping into an electric supply illegally was jailed. Do they think they did it because they are criminals? They did it because they can't afford the disgusting prices the companies charge. When EDF increased their prices some time ago by 19 or 20% no one in authority blinked. When they tried the same in their own country the French Government capped the increase to 5%. Ours did nothing, saying they didn't want to interfere with individual companies. Why not? its because no one in Government will ever face the struggles of the normal citizen in this country. After sending in a gas reading, the usage came to £32. Not too bad eh? Then why do they want to increase our DD from £115 to £135. This, according to the customer dis service person was that this will cover ESTIMATED USAGE. I thought that the reason they want ACTUAL readings is to avoid estimates? It is so demoralising to realise that whatever you tell these people, they don't give a damn and never will.

One thing to remember though, the people you speak to are those same people who are struggling since call centres aren't well paid. I'm sure many of them feel the same but often don't get trained/supporting and have managers moaning at them about call targets...often without an interest in helping customers.

The government are the same waste of time they have always been. They say they will do something to make us all think they are interested and then nothing happens. But that's just the government in this country...has it ever been any different?

  • The government are partly responsible for the larger bills due to climate change levy we all have to pay for solar panels and wind farms. Plenty of large firms are making serious money from this that we all are paying. You can thank Tony Blair for some of this having gone a lot further in targets for cutting greenhouse gases.
