Anyone else got any advice?
if you fail it can be for a daft reason like not being on the voting register, you could offer to get a hard copy printed off and show them, as I'm not too sure what they are allowed to see on your credit file, some just give a pass or a fail answer, you could then take it in and show them that the debts are only small.0 -
Sounds to me like they will make their choice based on wether you are prepared to pay your debts or or are running away from them, we all have bills to pay.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

I'd have thought it would be more to do with regulation with the job involving finance/cash/debt etc.0 -
That's what I'm trying to get at, if you are simply running away from debts you are not fit for the job whereas if you have arrangements to fulfill your obligations then that going to be a different matter.I'd have thought it would be more to do with regulation with the job involving finance/cash/debt etc.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
you aren't fit for a job if you have debts? You will still fail a credit check if you have 'arrangements' to pay.paddedjohn wrote: »That's what I'm trying to get at, if you are simply running away from debts you are not fit for the job whereas if you have arrangements to fulfill your obligations then that going to be a different matter.0 -

Interesting statement. I just guess it depends what type of credit check they run... I can't see why they'd do a deep one, as far as I'm aware I think as stated before the usual is just for CCJ's/Bankruptcy.
Would it be a good idea to call them on Monday and ask if the check has gone through and what the result was? Or would that seem to eager?

They also want somebody that will fulfill their role professionally and thoroughly. If you have debt collection agencies chasing you, you probably won't have a good work to say about them and might have an ulterior motive for wanting to work for one? Bit of a wildcard, but possible.Interesting statement. I just guess it depends what type of credit check they run... Does anyone know for sure what they are allowed to see?
i.e is it to there discretion as to whether they want to see a full detailed search history or just publicly available credit history (ccj's/bankruptcy)

Generally they will be looking for IVA, CCJ, Bankruptcy and Defaults - these aren't "publicly available"
At the end of the day, you give them permission and you may or may not get the job. You dont give them permission then you dont get the job.
Personally I dont see what you have to lose about giving them permission whereas you obviously do lose if you dont. Certainly dont mess about saying you want to give them permission for this but not for that etc as (a) they will have a standard process and it accepts a yes or no answer and (b) it smells bad and probably means that if they did do as you request that they look into everything with more detail0 -

Thanks for this, I did call them this morning just to confirm they got my email confirming I'd accept the offer and they said they would run the credit check and get back to me.
So I guess now it's just a waiting game.
