private parking overstay invoice....

i had an overstay invoice in june from CPplus at taunton deane services on the m5, of £50 and i ignored it. over the weeks i recieved another letters, one asking for £80 and the next wanting £120. today i recieved a "notice of intended litigation" saying if i dont pay £120 within 7days potential county court proceedings will be issued. all i can see is words like "may" and "potential" within their letters with loads of mentions of money and how to pay. i dont like being harrassed or having demands sent me that i've no reason to answer. so shall i just keep ignoring them?

CP Plius are very well known here - The less contact you have, the sooner they go away. The notice is indeed as you suspect, a load of tripe and the chances of them actually going to court are in the order of a doube lottery win!

The Letter chain Sticky will show you what letters to expect from them, so just tick them off till the end of the scam. :)

You could write to the car park owner, advising them that they’re "jointly and severally liable" for the actions of their agents and that any further actions by the private ticketing company would be regarded as harassment under the terms of The Protection from Harassment Act 1997. This ought to make the car park owner call off the private ticketing company and, maybe, also realise the potential cost of doing business with one.

You should continue to ignore everything you get from the private ticketing company. Eventually, they’ll run out of empty threats and stop throwing good money after bad.

Nor do any of us...but we do just laugh at these fake PCNs.

Yes, ignore it and you will just get the same letters we all do - and despite the 'debt collector' or 'solicitor' headings and bold lettering, threatening increasing charges, they really are very easy to ignore (as we all do!).

I am just an ordinary law abiding Mum with a mortgage, a clean credit record and a job that requires an enhanced CRB check (as does my husband's job). I laughed when I got one of these fake PCNs 4 years ago and was very pleased to waste their postage when I got the usual debt collector letters. I recently was amused to get another one on my windscreen and I am awaiting the letter chain with vague interest, just for a laugh.

A private company cannot affect your credit record without a credit agreement (shouldn't think you signed a credit agreement to this bunch of chancers while you were there?!). Without that they would need to achieve the small matter of winning in Court by convincing a judge that you owe them money.

They can't and they won't affect your credit rating, can't just apply for a CCJ and they can't and they won't send the boys round.

This will not even make a dent on a penny in your pocket. Do not take it seriously at all; do not respond to the letters in the absence of real sealed Court papers - which will not come. It's all just threats.

All the letters can be seen as picture previews, in the permanent info 'sticky' thread near the top of the parking forum. See my signature for the words to click on, in order to take a step back and see the whole current thread list.

One click and you see all the current threads here. Third from the top, click on 'PPC letter chains'.

    1. Watch the Watchdog clip on there, and then

    2. scroll down to the pics of the usual threatograms, then

    3. Play a nice game of snap with each matching templated threatogram, then

    4. Tell your friends & family about the fake PCN generic scam so they never pay one to one of these cowboy firms.

    HTH :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Ignore all the 'sewage' CP Plus send you and also the equally worthless 5h1t that will come later from Debt Recovery Plus and then Zenith Collections.

It is all a scam. If you don't acknowledge them they are completely stuffed.

I've had CP Plus try it on with me many times. They will never get a single penny from me. They will however waste lots of money trying to scam me - Losers LOL!
  • I, like tonytrike was 'caught' at Taunton Deane Services on the M5 back in July. My immediate response when I received the demand from CP Plus was to write a cheque. Something in the back of my mind stopped me and I found the 'Watchdog' clip on 'Youtube' where the solicitor made the notice into a paper aeroplane. I did reply to the notice by writing across it 'no contract, return to sender'. I have now received letter number 2 and despite reading all the comments here and on other forums I am still bothered by this and hate the thougth of ensuing debt collection letters etc. HOWEVER it is only thanks to you good folks who have generously shared your experiences and advice that I have got the confidence not to respond any further to these robbers. I am really grateful thank-you!

We have all the usual letters here ...

Read them before they arrive. Then, when they do, play SNAP! and see if you get to collect a full set.
