International Transfer with Santander - Help!

Hi,

I'm thinking the answer to this question is "you need to phone Santander" but hoping someone has another solution.

I need to make a payment to someone with an international bank account (I have BIC and IBAN etc).

Is there any way of processing this online? Problem is the owner of the account lives oversees (the account is used for business and I have access).

I don't want to use any premium service as they payment is only about £60.

Thanks!

Where is the other account based? If it's in Europe then it should go through SEPA which was recently enforced through the PSD, I'm not too sure on the details but I doubt the fees will be too high although you will get a terrible interbank rate. Have you thought about external money transfer services? I know xe.com started offering it although I haven't tried it myself.

It's cheaper to use money transfer services like Currency Fair or Transferwise if Euros.
The fees are less than the banks and the exchange rate better.

It's a Spanish bank. Was just planning on sendin money in GBP and not too fussy about the rate.

Can't see any option at all online but seems like Halifax offer this service so probably best bet is to transfer to that account and go from there.

    Thanks for your replies!
