Seems to be a growing trend. California have similar legislation, all on the grounds of smog control. Theirs is no where near as harsh as this one as it only applies to engine, intake and exhaust and you can fit aftermarket mods but only if the part manufacturer pays to get it approved by the government, and that approval is both expensive and has to be done for each vehicle you want the part to be fitted to.
So you hear stories from time to time, when a copper who doesn't like a person and so decides to do a roadside MOT looking for an excuse to give the person a ticket. In one example a perished vaccum hose had been replaced with a spare bit of blue silicone hose they had lying around and they were ticketed for that because it wasn't an approved part.
Plus you have the whole TUV thing in Germany which makes modifications very difficult too, pushing the market into the big tuning companies who have the resources to release what is in effect their own vehicle, e.g. AMG or Brabus.
If this government want to support small businesses, as they claim, then they should be opposed to this, and it may be best to emphasise that angle in any campaigning you decide to do?0 -
Removing the DPf and blanking the EGR on diesels is not detectable on an MOT, especcially if you remove the DPF but put the section of pipe back on the exhaust.
MOTs for diesels are purely smoke-based, not emissions based. Any MOT station that fails a diesel on emissions has failed to carry-out the MOT to the letter of the legislation.Never Knowingly Understood.

Under current legislation, you are correct. Supposedly this proposed new legislation changes that.
Is there an undetectable way of blanking the EGR, e.g. removing the valve and replacing any gasket there may be with a solid one, as opposed to one with holes in it?0
