Home insurance, want to 'speak' to us on phone...can we Legally use LETTERS instead ?

Thanks.
We have been with this insurer for over 10 years.
Discovered movement 8 months ago, we made a phone call for this (Which would have been noted) - They advised us to get a structural report done.
but they wern't big cracks then.
But now they recently got wider, so we got the structural report done 'recent'y (as they advised in the phone call 8 months ago).
now i have told you this, anything else that they can ask ? - to catch us out?
What do you mean by this? they will still find it ?
Are you a home insurer? or deal with them?
What I was getting at is you seem very cagey about speaking to the Insurer which could suggest you have something to hide.
The more detailed information you've given would indicate the claim should sail through as if you've recently changed Insurer it can make the claim more complicated as the Insurers have to work out using an industry protocol who has to pay the claim.
Assuming the property has no previous subsidence / underpinning that you did not declare to the Insurers and any survey you had when you bought the property did not give any alerts regarding subsidence (Most surveys mentions "historic movement" which is not normally an issue).
Insurers have systems in place to handle subsidence claims, they're dealt with differently to other claims such as thefts as you don't tend to get fraudulent subsidence claims.
It sounds like you have nothing to worry about, Insurers are not as bad as people make out, if they do through up a problem you can come onto MSE for advice or follow the Insurers complaint system.
I see from your previous posts in other threads that your of retirement age. If you're worried about speaking to them on the phone, you can get a relative etc to speak for you providing you're there at the start of the call to give your authority for them to speak.
I don't think you have anything to worry about with a subsidence claim. If your worried ask one of your grandchildren or children as they may have the facility to record phone calls on their mobile if you want to have a record of dealings with the Insurers. If you do this mention at the start of the call your making a recording0 -
Most insurers are simply set up to do most of their business by phone now. They often have a generic letter that's automatically sent asking people to contact them.
It's just cheaper than having someone think about all the things they need to say or ask and then write a personal letter. It also often makes things quicker than them sending a letter then you writing a reply them reading the reply realising they have more questions and writing again etc, etc.0
