Does anyone know if the cycle carrier currently on offer at Aldi (£24.99 or £29.99 - can't remember which) would be suitable for my Fiesta please? It is a 2004 Zetec 5 door.

Thanks.

By the time you've bought a lighting board, straps, and a method of getting the lighting board attached to your car, are you sure a rear carrier is the best option?
IMO they're not secure, make access to the boot impossible, and generally naff products.

Get some cheap roof bars and a cheap roof-mounted cycle carrier to attach to it and put the bike up there.

+1 roof mounted is the best option.

    Unless you have a towbar.

I know roof mounted is best but it would be tricky for me to get my bike up there on my own. I just want something to use occasionally for local use rather than long distance driving.

Will the bike fit in the car?

If you only want to use it local, why not ride the bike?

The bike does fit in the car, provided the wheel is taken off and then only just, so it's a real faff to get it in.

I do cycle quite a bit locally but sometimes it's useful to start from several miles away (as it's more scenic, etc.) so it saves time.

Anyway, I've bought one. Aldi said if it doesn't fit they'll take it back, so it's worth a try.

So what are you doing about the rear lights and number plate?

If it's like the one they were doing a couple of months ago it fits on the rear door above the number plate and lights so lighting board not needed.

Personally, a roof mounted rack would be useless for me I wouldn't be able to reach it!

There are cycle racks with pivot mounts if you cannot reach the roof or carry a small step to reach the roof.

Fold the seats down and put it in the boot?
