If I send a text abroad, I'm on a package with orange(Free texts) do I have to pay more??You can guess who I'm sending them to;)And do I have to pay to receive them? I have'nt a clue but MrLala won't be best pleased if I rack up a huge bill:eek::eek:as he kindly pays it for me;)

As has been stated. YOU don't pay any more than you would if he was in the UK if he is using a UK mobile abroad. Can you imagine getting a bill when you text someone because you didn't know they were abroad? - The companies would be sued to high heavens!

The same applies to making a call to them. THEY however will be charged. When in Europe I get charged about 12p per text I send but nothing to receive them. I get charged 30p per min per call I receive but I'm on a special package with Vodafone where when I ring the OH I pay 75p to connect then get to use my home rate (free minutes) up to one hour.

And thank you to the kind member for the Beanz ;)

Just to point out that this has nothing to do with calling a UK mobile that is abroad currently! Completely different and irrelevant information. :o

    Sorry.
    Please.
    Thankyou.

I am stuck at home waiting for my plumber friend. He is meant to be servicing mum's boiler today while she is at day hospice. Trouble is we have been having problems getting day arranged. We arranged couple fridays ago and he was unwell so couldn't do and then last week he phoned friday morning to come round and I had forgotten to let him know we were off to Wales. So we arranged today as a definite but I have text him and not heard anything, bet he has forgotten. :( He is a really great guy so I can't moan never charges a fortune. We were having a laugh last week that at our age we need to write things down, maybe he forgot. ;)

I'm on O2 and have never had to pay extra to text people in Europe and so far when they have been abroad has not cost DDs to receive them. I am only on PAYG and pay for a text bolt on and get free minutes, which also made it free to ring DD2 but it cost her to receive the call in one country but not another, but that still worked out cheaper than her ringing me. Not sure if any help. :o

are you talking about my mum? sounds the same! big hug :A

If you're male and about 30ish, living in NI then maybe I am :rotfl:

More than likely it's a lot to do with their age :p or the season of their life or something like that :rotfl:

DH used to tell her to grow up all the time because she was always turning on the waterworks to get her way.
her ring tone used to bug him only because it embarrassed everyone every time someone rang her as it was and still is something like Justin beber
The best thing he done was change it everytime he got hold of her phone, it has been Rage against the machine, kiss, James, radiohead to name but a few! He did tell her he'd get her some of her Fav music on it but she wouldn't let him.

I just don't have the energy or mental well being to put up with it anymore :(

Do you have a smartphone lala?
If so viber or whatsapp are apps you can download and as long as the other person downloads the app as well , you can then send each other messages and call each other for free.

I use it to call and text my brother in mumbai, it's fantastic and saves me a fortune. You just need to make sure you have a wifi connection, though I do use my 3g connection as I have unlimited internet on my phone.

I've been using whatsapp for a few months it's great :), got it for messaging a friend in Spain. I'm on payg and when my credit ran out last month I was still able to use whatsapp even though I had no wifi connection and no 3g

    Happy doesn't have whatsapp :(
