I'm was debating chucking a tin of mushy peas in a lamb stew I've had in the slow cooker all day:cool:But think its probably not the best idea:rotfl:I've been picking up lots of the tuna because that always gets used, its just the mushy peas are too good to ignore at 4p:o
I always put a tin or two of mushy peas in my stews, bulks it out a little and you wouldn't even know that it was mushy peas that had gone in there if you know what I mean!
The only reason I do it is because that is what my mum taught me, she does it with all her stews and they are delish!0 -

Hair conditioner: it's essential for soft, tangle-free tresses. But did you know hair conditioner has a bunch of other uses? It's true! Check out my super list of unusual uses for conditioner:
1. Shaving lotion. Why buy a separate product for shaving when an inexpensive conditioner goes a lot further? It works just as well as shaving foam. Really.
2. Makeup remover. Conditioner dissolves makeup beautifully and softens the skin without being greasy.
3. Cuticle softener. Rub conditioner into your dry cuticles. Ahh. Instant relief for dry nails.
4. Moisturizer. Speaking of softening the skin, conditioner makes a good all-purpose moisturizer if you're in a pinch.
5. Take the "ouch!" out of bandage removal. If you or the kids refuse to endure the pain of having band-aids ripped off, rub conditioner around the area and the bandage can be eased back gently.
6. Ring removal. Conditioner will get that stuck ring off your finger, pronto.
7. Fake tattoo removal. If your preschooler's so over his Diego temporary tattoo, use conditioner to remove it without a trace ... and without painful scrubbing.
8. Lubricate squeaky doors and windows. Out of WD-40? Try a dab of conditioner on noisy hinges and stiff, sticking windows.
9. Grease stuck zippers. Work a teensie bit of conditioner into a stuck zipper to get things back on track.
10. Soften leather. Conditioner can be used to soften and add sheen to any leather products, including office chairs, leather coats and car seats. Try conditioner on shoes in snowy, icy weather: it adds a layer of water-resistant protection between the leather and damaging water and salt.
11. Leaf shine for houseplants. Much less expensive than specially-formulated leaf shine products, conditioner cleans dust and grime from rubber plants and other large-leafed houseplants. It also adds a lasting, brilliant sheen.
12. Shrunken sweater first aid. Yikes! Your sweater shrunk in the wash. Don't panic ... and give conditioner a try. Dissolve a tablespoon or so of conditioner in a basin of water and soak the sweater in it. The conditioner might soften the fabric enough that it can be gently stretched to its original size.
13. Wash delicates. Use conditioner to hand wash lingerie and other delicate fabrics, letting you skip the pricey specialty detergents.
14. Chrome and stainless steel polish. Conditioner adds a very nice shine to household metal surfaces, especially faucets. Just polish 'till the conditioner residue disappears.
15. Rust prevention. Protect garden and home improvement tools from rust: rub blades and other metal surfaces with a layer of conditioner.
16. Soften paintbrushes and makeup brushes. Rinse clean, then work a little conditioner into the bristles. Leave for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. This will keep the bristles smooth and sleek, and ideal for precision work.0 -
Just had this posted on my FB wall, a friend saw it and thought I'd find it funny.

Dear Tesco, after reading a similar post I now feel i owe you an appology as well, i usually shop around 6pm on a saturday in your Portadown, N Ireland store, I always seem to get in the way of your student check-out operators, for this I am truly sorry, I know its important they discuss their plans for the evening ahead and almost always step aside so they can communicate face to face, I know I shouldnt get frustrated when I need to ask for my Tesco card to be scanned, in future I will get customer services to add my points, its really not fair to hold up their conversation, their time is precious and perhaps they are volunteer workers, therefore my money is of no importance towards wages etc, please extend my appologies to all your student workers and wish them well from me on their weekend plans.
Regards Andrew

The Ben and jerry cores would give you a £2 JTD for Asda. The Chicago takeaways are the same price. Not sure about the garlic bread.
I can't see the offer online. Anyone else?
I also spotted this instore earlier and was just searching for it online. It's Haagen Daz this time rather than Ben and Jerry's. Might have to go and test it out later..... Really need a Ts glitch for a change♥ Worrying does not empty tomorrow of it's troubles.... it empties today of it's strength ♥0 -
Bracing weather at Aberystwyth last thursday
Beautiful place my Ds went to uni there, it brings back happy memories. :A xxxThrifty_Sister wrote: »You CAN mix your shopping but I personally would advise the go in 2/3/4 times approach as a mixed shop gives more potential for being 'spotted' and screwing up your apg:rotfl::rotfl:
The general consensus of opinion is go for smaller shops - more work but keeps you under the radar and less chance of getting trouted:D:D
So you could do your wine shop - buy in 3's and get 8-10 items to fill the shop out.
Your next shop might be hair stuff etc and if you do these right it is possible to get some very nice apgs for your trouble. More sensible imo than doing one huge shop - hth.
Don't forget to let us know how you go on:)
Well I'm back at last.I did my normal shop and then went back for the wine. I then went back in for the shampoo but horror of horror's there was no sp conditioner. My mother said they must all be doing it. :rotfl::rotfl:
Looks like you have just about got the hang of it!:T
My only suggestion would be to not get it all in one lot.
The tommy K, shampoo and wine are all tesco comparisons, but three bottles of wine alone produces an APG of £9!
You would get a similar £9ish APG with two expensive shampoos!
Each tommy K can bring almost £3 to the APG depending what else you buy, so no more than 3 in a go (if you want to keep your APG under £10)
If you do your tommy K with your big normal shop, you run the risk of the APG being reduced if you are buying other items on offer though.
Another alternative for your shampoo shop if theres no SP conditioner ot gel is the asda 'essentials' gel, its purple, silver lid and label, 44p (so makes each item 29p)
If you are lucky enough to find wine, tommyk and the shampoo, I would do three smaller shops (with 8+ small comparable items each of course) Then go back for the rest. it will take more time, but you will benefit better this way. I often go with my OH, get a shallow trolley plus a basket inside, and we do two APG shops together, but pay separately. I have also done two on my own like that too, any questions I just say the second basket is shopping Im doin g for my mum and I like to have a separate reciept for her!
Thank youyes I think I am getting the hang of it but I got confused over the hair gel as no sp but there was the purple one with the silver lid but I couldn't remember if that was a good one or a bad one to have.
Thank you for your replies so far back to catching up with the thread now. I have tried to input my receipt but then got a message that I need to wait for 3 hours.
But thank you again everyones help is much appreciated, though Mr Budgie commented that I must not get obsessed, what with saving money.
He will learn.
Big hugs (())

Haagan das 500ml are half price in sainsburys so £2.20 ish pp!
Chicago town takeaway are also £1 cheaper in sainsburys so a potential £3 odd JTD making a £5 meal deal VERY good value. Go go go.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
