I understand you get a discount for electricty/gas if you use a debit card. Is there a way to use credit cards? I.e. is there a company that allows discounts on credit card like a debit card?

I have not heard of one; and I very much doubt if there is.

Most companies give a good discount if paying by Direct Debit. I have never heard of one that gives a discount for paying by debit card. Are you sure you are not confusing 'Direct Debit' with 'Debit Card'?

No Suppliers give you a discount for using a debit card. Why would they? Some of them might charge you a fee for using your credit card - But again as far as I knew this was non-existant for utility companies as well.

There is not necessarily a fee, it would vary from company to company. Not all utility companies even accept credit cards.

Ebico (equipower, equigas) accept credit cards and charge all customers the same rate regardless of payment method. However, in my region, the Ebico agent is Southern Electric and although Ebico don't penalise credit card payers, Southern Electric add a 1.5% handling fee to credit card payments :(:(
