    Just an update:

After repeated phone-calls to the call centre involving speaking to three different managers, and emailing my MP, I finally got a call back.

They are now saying they have "lost" my claim details. And of course they can't make an interim payment because they have no claim from me.

I now have to go in to the Jobcentre on Tuesday to make another claim. They have promised to back-date this to July 19 (the date of my original claim). I am not holding my breath.

On a positive note, I spoke to a lovely person at the C.A.B. who got me an emergency appointment on Monday. She said she can help me complain, which is great.

    Thanks for all the advice.

Unbelievable (actually no, it's not unbelievable) I am pleased you finally know why your claim had not been processed and hence no JSA money but it is disgraceful customer service and I urge you to request a special payment in recognition of this debacle.
  • Just a final update, in case it's useful for anyone in the same situation.

I went to the Job Centre today & was informed my claim had (magically) been found. I have a feeling this may be to do with my MP writing to them.

Anyway, they did a direct transfer of the £375.29 into my account.

I made sure I took down names and addresses for complaints and will be making one. I'll certainly be claiming for all the phone-calls.

Labour (Hugh Bayley). He was incredibly prompt in his response. I was amazed.

Thanks, I was hoping it would have been a Tory so then I could have had some faith they are human.

I have just volunteered for my local Labour party and will join as soon as I have the spare funds, I suggest if others feel the Tories have gone too far, with a lot more to come, they do the same.

You're a mug then. Because Labour introduced ESA in the first place, they're the ones who gave ATOS the contracts for the work capability assessments and the godawful, punitive regime through which sick and disabled people now have to negotiate on bended knee.

Labour no more know about the lives of ordinary people than does the man on the moon, their leadership is made up of toffee nosed goons born into political families.

But hey. You just volunteer for them if you like, free country and all. Me ? I think you've got a zip up the back of your head.

Exactly the same thing has happened to me. I made a new claim 7 weeks ago and I have not received 1 letter about the claim and no payment. I have called the JSA a total of 11 times now and each time they say someone will call back. No one has ever called me back once. Today I called them and they said there is no information on the system about my claim, 3 times I called today and nothing, no information, no payment... It's totally unacceptable... there lying to people about calling them back it's not just happening to me, when I've been waiting to use the phones at the Job Centre I can hear people complaining about the same problem I am having... It's a disgrace... I've spent so much time chasing up my claim, which doesn't appear to exist and waiting on the phone to ask for a crysis loan and journeying backwards and forwards form the job centre. It's been hard to focus on looking for work... and their now imposing strict sanctions on people for not following protocol... they should look at their own protocols before they start sanctioning people who have effectively done nothing wrong... A disgrace... Hugh Bailey is also my MP.. I'll send him on email.

I live in Yorkshire, York to be exact... I think we probably have our claims at the same department. Leeds. The whole thing needs looking at across the board. Somethings wrong with the system, well it's never been great, but now it's worse then it's ever been before. If you live in Yorkshire and your making a new claim for JSA... seriously good luck.
  • Thank-you. I have emailed to make a complaint. I will also try to claim for the expense of phone-calls.

All I want is my JSA money. Is there any 'trick' to getting them to pay up?

Instead of complaining, why dont you look for a job, like the rest of us have to do. So they made an error, it happens, wait in the queue like everybody else.To be honest with you you'd be lucky if they will listen to you complaining about expense of a phone call.

When you first make a claim, they ask you clearly what claim you want to make! YES there is a trick and thats WAIT!

You wouldn't be preaching like that if it happened to you. To be honest with you, I have no time for pointless comments that help nobody. good day.
