Argos Coversafe/PPI

I sent FOS questionaire to Argos to repay back coversafe/ppi that i ve had on card since it s been open a number of years ago. I got a letter back to say i ve never had payment protection insurance on my argos card and are unable to investigage mis-sale of a policy that does not exist?
Is it right what they say, i was led to believe that the coversafe is the same thing as payment protection and has anyone any suggestions to what i do now?

You need to write back to Argos with the account number of this Insurance so that they can find you.
What reasons did you give for complaint? This is at least as important as proving you had a policy..0 -
Do you have any of your old statements showing Coversafe was charged? If you do, send Argos a copy and ask them to investigate.0

Im unsure what coversafe covers that why i filled in form saying i believed it was missold. coversafe amount bes added on my bill at the end of every month. If i have any further questions it says to write or ring customer service team? I thought by filling out questionaire that i would of got it back.0

Coversafe is payment protection insurance so if you were being charged for it on your monthly statements, it looks like they have made a mistake by telling you that you never had it.
Send them a copy of any of your statements showing that you have been charged for it and a copy of your FOS questionnaire explaining why you believe that it was mis-sold and asking them to re-loom at your case.
Good luck.0 -
You can't say it was mis-sold just because you don't know what cover the policy gives you. Even if you had it, you need valid complaint reasons in order to be successful.Im unsure what coversafe covers that why i filled in form saying i believed it was missold.
Here's the link explaining that it does cover you against unemployment so IS another name for PPI

Why are Argos saying you don't have this Insurance? Do you have documentary proof? What year did you take out the policy? Is it still running or only been closed in the last six years?0 -
Ive been with Argos Card this past 5+ years i sent them FOS questionaire and a copy of their latest coversafe policy cause they changed it off late. And then i received the letter today saying i havent got payment protection insurance and 'cant investigate missale of a policy that does not exist'. ' We take allegations of mis-sale very seriously and ask that you only send us genuine complaints.'
I will write back and send them a copy of my statements as i kept them this past yr or more.0 -
The card is still running. and coversafe still added on at end of every month. Thank you so much to everyone who has replied to these threads, u have been very helpful. I was very dishearten by this letter.0

I only had coversafe for a couple of months in 2006 and argos have offered me £4.84p compo.
I have heard of others getting large sums compo. Should i accept this paltry amount?0 -

You had it for a couple of months, you only get back what you paid plus, where applicable, an interest payment. People getting thousands of pounds PAID thousands of poundsSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
