I find it very difficult to agree with the idea that you should occasionally pay some interest. Why would I want to deliberately donate money to a bank? British Heart Foundation, yes, Barclays, no.

I've been a credit card user for at least 14 years, and have never paid a penny in interest, nor any fees. When Barclaycard started charging me a £10 annual fee, I complained, got it refunded, then cancelled the card.
I currently have five active credit cards with a combined "available credit" of £30650. I would have a lot more if I wasn't so assiduous in closing down cards I don't actively use. I've never been refused a new credit card, and my lowest credit limit is currently £2800. Credit card companies seem to like me.
