Swinton taking the p*** with renewal quote

Received an e-mail today from Swinton asking that I call 'to discuss my renewal quote) for contents insurance (I have separate buildings cover elsewhere). Last year's premium was £55. I ran a few screenscrapers and Swinton came out top at £35, the nearest rivals were all in the region £55-£60.
So when I rang Swinton for my renewal quote it was, wait for it, £110! Now I know companies try it on when it comes to renewal but this is just taking the p***! They're trying to charge me 3 times more than a new customer. Said they'd send me the quote by post. I just laughed and put the phone down.

This happened to me with regards to car insurance.
When I asked Hastings about it I was cringing with embarrassment as the guy on the phone squirmed for an answer0 -
Make sure you inform them PROPERLY that you wont be renewing.
Cancelling the payment method is not cancelling.
Just thought i would pop that in, Seem to have a fair few people moaning about their unsurance auto renewing even though they cancelled the payment.
But didnt actually cancel the renewal.
Probably badly worded because your not going to cancel, You going to let the policy lapse or expire and you wont be renewing.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thanks, and yes I will ensure I cancel properly (in writing). Having been caught by a CPA before from an insurance company (the worst culprits for CPA abuse) I always cancel in writing as, frankly, I trust them about as far as I could throw them.0
