what to do with Eurotunnel shares

An elderly relative has asked me what they should do with some Eurotunnel shares that she was left by her husband... I know they are not worth much and I gather they are still in his name she literally found them in a drawer and there they have stayed . I think there are around 1500 when all the different certificates are added up....
I have never had any dealings with shares and she would like to sell them ... can someone tell me how to do this ? Would they have to be transferred into her name? Would anyone want to buy them ? If so what sort of value are they?... she could really do with the cash to eke out a very meagre pension.. she also said she recently had some paperwork from Eurotunnel asking her to sign something but as they are not in her name I advised her to leave it until I can take a look at it...
Thanks

Hi, tanith,
They've only just resumed trading, having been suspended for nearly a year - story here. To be honest I would get rid as it is a very small holding and I suspect that there will be a lot of paperwork involved with the restructuring which your relative may just find too stressful considering the tiny amounts involved ( around £400 at today's closing price ). There are seemingly travel perks to be had with some of the shares so if that is of interest you may want to look more closely into this.
She needs to have the shares registered in her own name. She can do this by filling in a stock transfer form and sending it to the registrar. The shares can be sold through the Share Centre.

Thanks so much for all that useful info , I will pass on what I can to her and help her to sell them as even £400 will be a useful addition to her finances...

Just to note the death will have to be registered with the registrars before they can be transfered. If your not sure what you need to do send an email to web.queries@computershare.co.uk they will tell you what you need to do.:rotfl:0
