Sony and the mystery purchase

Really quite annoyed with Sony at the moment. Here's why...
A couple of days ago, I got an email saying that my Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) account had funding added and a game purchased. At the exact time of the purchase, I was in the shower! I have two devices connected to the SEN, my PS3 and my Sony Tablet. Fearing that my account had been hacked, I changed my password and emailed Sony support. They asked me to call up the Playstation line to discuss is as they "take security of SEN accounts very seriously".
I called up this morning, and I have learnt the following things...
- The purchase was made via a PC program called MediaGo. I do not have such a program.
- It would be impossible for anyone to hack into my account because even if they had my email and password, they'd need to put in my card details exactly or be banished forever (this is actually a lie, I've just tried doing the same and not required my card details putting in)
- They won't refund me for 'mispurchased' games.
Doesn't sound like they take security very seriously. They didn't even ask me if I'd changed my password or advised me to, it was just "no-one else could have done it". Grrr! I know it's only £5 or so, but their attitude is actually quite annoying

You say funding was added? was it more/less/same as the purchase? Might be wise to run malware/virus scans to be on the safe side.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

It was a £5 funding (that's the minimum it will do) for a £3.99 purchase. I will indeed run a scan just in caseSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Never had one, no. Thankfully the second person I spoke to wasn't so "LALALALA NOT POSSIBLE" and has actually now escalated it to the technical team who can look into how and where (I presume) it was doneSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. You should also contact your card issuer and ask them to cancel the card in question and issue a new one.0
