If the shop is less than 100 sq metres and has less than 5 staff then it looks like it'll cost £79 + VAT for a license for a portable radio.

If you ask PRS for music for a complete list of the artists and recording companies they represent, then you can avoid playing anything on that list and you won't owe them anything. :rotfl:

I'm allowed to play a cd or record through once to check it works.We have music.
Got a stack of donated cds,a roll of labels and a pen to mark "checked" on them once played through.Every body is happy.

There are internet radio stations that specialise in playing royalty-free music for charity shops, eghttp://www.imsradio.net/index.php/component/content/article/24.html

They can sell you an internet radio player if you have broadband, or send you a player with a memory card with music already on it.

Hi I work for a local charity and use I.M.S radio through the internet this plays unsigned bands so is ok , you are right the same rules apply to the sorting room too,
