Primus Saver Option 2 - 09 calls no longer blocked

Options
Saw this somewhere on the forum but can't relocate it to add to the thread.

I Phoned Primus to confirm and the CS guy said that Primus had removed the 09 block from the Saver Option 2 package and it was not possible for Primus to apply the block on a 'per customer' basis. He said Primus had done this because some customers wanted to call 09 numbers and were not happy that they couldn't, so Primus removed the block totally (but didn't tell anybody). He also asid that I had to contact BT to have 09 numbers specifically blocked if this is what I wanted. Primus had no facilty to do this.

I have rung BT and got an 09 number block added but neither I nor BT are convinced that this will block 09 numbers going via the CPS (Primus). BT can only say that it will stop '090' numbers going via BT.

Can anyone advise?

It will only block numbers going through BT,both the landline provider and the call provider have to block to get total blocking.I can see no technical reason why Primus cant apply it on a per customer basis. Euphony do !!!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Car Insurance Carver!
It was probably one of my posts you read - I got £5 credit on my account even though I hadn't made any 09 calls!

As utilitybroker says, having BT bar 09 calls on your landline (that's a free service BTW), would have no effect on your CPS service - you could still dial 09 number via that.

Looks like Phone Guards are going to be in demand again!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Their website still says you have to make premium calls via BT. Naughty of them not to tell all their customers.

Heinz: Yes that was the post. Guess I will have to get back onto Primus. Didn't think that a BT block would affect the CPS but Primus were adamant it would. :(:(

BT barring premium rate access will not normally effect the cps traffic.

update: Despite a BT premium rate call block, premium rate calls have gone via Primus. So utilitybroker is right. Have spoken to Primus who say they way to stop premium rate calls going via Primus is to get BT to block them. Aaagh.
