Windows activation

If I replace my motherboard - will I have to reactivate windows 7 (non-OEM) ?
The rest (memory, CPU etc) are the same as previous

Comments

  • Yes you will. Most of the key components used to generate the installation ID are on the motherboard.

It is a painless process although you may need to do it over the phone with the automated system. The phone call is an 0800 number.

Is your disc the Upgrade Edition? If so, you may have to play around with the installation a little to get it to work. Perhaps the Double Install method.
    Which Motherboard did you purchase?

    No - it's a full version
And I bought myself another MSI board (see previous thread "BIOS dead")

Ok, found it. You have a full version of Windows 7, so it's not an issue anyway.
I'm just packing, to get a few days by the sea.

    Good luck.
