Hi PK,
My friend bought a house from Bellway Homes. Just the normal amount of snagging work that needed done (nothing too serious).
She bought her house at the beginning of 2006, and I personally think its a beautiful house.
Are you thinking of buying one?

I have a Bellway home (flat) bought new in '01. Nice design, excellent quality and far superior to some other, more recently built properties locally, though that may be more to do with the maintenance schedule.
I don't know if the builder as such is so important as the people who construct the homes will be contractors who (I guess) work on many different sites for different companies. I do remember being told at the time I bought though that (Seamus??) was the daddy of all Site Managers, he who is ultimately responsible for delivering the project on time and to standard and it makes sense that if the SM is good the property prob will be too, assuming it's well conceived and not built on a toxic dump etc. etc.0 -
Personal experience?
Awful Awful Awful.
Build was shoddy and uncared for. Snagging took forever to do...one problem (a non extracting extractor fan) took 18 months to resolve and we went through 5 customer service managers in that time.
A friend on the same estate had similar length of time to get a problem resolved with her shower. The more people I got to know on the estate, the more people had similar stories.
We bought in the middle of the build, so everyone who could sort was on site, but didn't really care about resolving anything once they had our money.
Bought another new house with Wates builders last year and they were everything that Bellway should have been. All snagging resolved before moving in (no chasing required at all) any issues that arose after move in solved within 3 days, 2 problems that we caused site were happy to sort for us.
Like above post said, was probably due to contractors, but Bellway head office did NOTHING to get our problems sorted, never returned phone calls and made an easy problem a nightmare to solve.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I bought a newly built Bellway ONE BEDROOM Semi-detached House in September 1987. They used very thin 2 millimetre glass in the wooden softwood window frames and the front door was out of true!
But on the whole I have been happy with it over the years.

No experience of Bellway. However, if you do decide to buy, make sure you get a professional snagging inspection done.
Don't understand what poster CSL is talking about - the link is about reducing council tax and 2mm glass window panes are not manufactured???In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0
