Full time students without disabilities or dependents aren't entitled to means tested benefits and cannot claim JSA. The OP would have to provide more info about their situation.

I'm mainly curious what evening courses there are that are full time - my local college and Uni don't offer any.

Does the OP mean Open University? In which case they can do shift work as they can simply fit in their studies around it, not just restrict themselves to daytime roles.

You posted earlier that you personally might be able to claim IS if you only worked 16 hours per week so I know that you have little idea of the eligibility for this benefit.

You seem to think that it's some kind of universal top up benefit that comes into play when someone is on a low income, which it is not.

I missed that bit, I may be able to get IS I have looked at the conditions and meet them.

So me saying that, somehow been turned into me suggesting IS is suitable for most people

You really do need to get out more.

Full time? I'm just curious - my local colleges/Uni at best offer part time HNCs of two evenings a week, and the usual assortment of language courses, flower arranging,e tc.

    Hi,

I understand generally its not allowed for full time students to claim JSA, for obvious reasons. But I intent to study a full time but evening run course specifically to get a day job.

In this case I feel I have a reasonable case to get JSA.

Can you tell me how I can go about claiming it ?

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

Full time students are deemed to be not available for work. The law is quite specific about what 'full time' means.

I guess you could claim Income Support if you are a refugee learning English, but how Sniggings would know that will forever be a mystery
