to be honest there are enough people selling dvd's so therefor lots of competition.
also if you dont know where to get them etc then you dont know the market and therefor i would say it was doomed from the start really.
you really need to find something that not a lot of people are selling and that a lot of people want to buy and with ebay there isn't that many thing like that i'm afraid

DVD's don't sell very well on ebay unless you are buying them very cheap like £2 just have a look at some of the shops selling DVD's the prices are down at £1.99 - £3.99 so you need to be buying them for very little to make it worth the effort I think.

Most of ebay dvd/cd/game wise is people getting shut of stuff they no longer want.

I know someone who has done well going to auctions buying popular electronics for very little like PSP's, ipods and PS2's and selling them on eBay for about double what he paid for them. scour the car boot sales for bargains and give them a try rather than going for somthing that is already being done by hundreds of people.

I sell hard rock cafe pin badges, people in the US and all over the world collect them and occasionally they sell for loads more than I pay for them especially if I am the first person to sell the badge on there. The problem is that in the UK there are only 7 hard rock cafes so you need to be close to one of them to make it easy to buy stock.

Yeah I mean I ain't really fussed what I sell It's just I love films and watch dvd's all the time so thought be good place to start something I enjoy doing. I mean at the moment I sell any old crap I cant find laying about my house and I do have a high Feedback with 100% so I do think I get more bids because of this. I also know a lot about internet marking and how to get more people to website's using ebay and other tools so I do think whatever I sell I could make money from it.

why dont you just carry on selling c**p then... as obviously you know how to make money from it....and go to boot sales..auctions..... jumble sales.... charity shops etc.....

might be worth this thread being transfered over to the ebay/auction part of mse...... to see if they got any suggestions for you there.....

    good luck

    Hi millwall,

As your thread is about selling on ebay I'll move it over to the ebay board to see if you can get some more replies.

I would avoid selling DVDs on a business level. There are already so many DVD sellers on eBay.

Do you have a hobby that you could perhaps develop into a business?

What should you sell on eBay? Anything that makes you money...!

Seriously, only you know what you can sell, how much can YOU buy an item for, and how much can YOU sell it for.

I know people who sell cars and make loads from it, I know others that it is nearly bankrupting. Anyone can tell you a product that makes money, but it is up to YOU to sell it and earn that money.

Find your niche - think about what items you buy, what hobbies and interests you have. Now consider how much you pay for those items, or for inforamtion about your hobbies, and also how they are sold to you.
So do you think you can you get those items cheaper, or, but preferably and, sell them better than they are curently sold?

It's not difficult to find wholesale contact lists either - a quick google search will normally bring up hundreds of links. Alternatively, eBay has a wholesale and Job Lots section - buy on one ID, sell on another - it's a very popular and effective strategy used by many, myself included.

Generally, it's also better to stick to one type of product if you are going to get stuck into it. Specialise, and excel.

I make quite a comfortable second income on selling DVD's - yes the margins are tight, but I have a VERY good supply, and I move the volumes to make it worth while. I have the interest and knowledge in the product, I know how to sell them, and how to strategically price them. It's not the market for the feint-hearted though - I was already a powerseller before I moved into the market!
