No brainer switch?

I have been in my house for 2.5 years now, my direct debit for electric is £74 per month, I've recently just claimed an over payment back off £111.

I am with SE so realised there will be a price increase of 9% in october so have looked at switching to Scottish power who have quoted me £52 per month.

Is it that simple to switch and fix?

It's the tariff that is fixed, not your monthly payment.

Use a comparison site to see who can offer you the best deal.
Your monthly payment will be 1/12 of your annual usage.
    It really is that simple.

Check for cashback offerings from the cashback sites, and if not available, use a cashback switching site via the special MSE links :)

Worth considering a price cap as well if you believe prices will rise its a no brainer .

  • So I've switched online to Scottish power, do I just give SE a call to say I'm leaving?

Can you tell I just carried on with the same supplier for ease when I moved in!

No, your new supplier should take care of everything for you :)

If you think that your DD will really reduce to £54 for very long without cutting your usage, then you're in for a rude awakening. Quoting you a lower DD is standard practice in order to gain your business. In a few months you'll get a big catch-up bill and your DD will soar.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I'm more concerned about it rising above what I am paying now to be honest than reducing it
