Eating out in London?

Couple of thoughts for you that might or might not help, depending on what you like. In my opinion these all offer excellent value, on a price-for-quality-of-food basis!
Wahaca does excellent Mexican grub. It's good quality and decent value. You can't book so be prepared for a wait, particularly at peak times. In my experience their Soho branch (Wardour St) usually has a shorter wait than their Covent Garden one. There's been a pop-up branch on the South Bank near the National Theatre too, but I'm not sure if that's still there.
Koya - also in Soho - does really first class Japanese noodle dishes, and is pretty reasonable. Again, no booking, so it's turn up and pot luck getting a table. Turnover is pretty fast, so you shouldn't have to wait ages.
For burgers, actually I rate Byron (branches all over) and Kua-Aina pretty highly. Slightly further out of town the Wenlock and Essex pub in Angel does one of the best burgers I've ever eaten.
You might also enjoy dim sum from Ping Pong (a chain but good quality and pretty good value) or sushi cones from Yoobi (great for a fast lunch).
As someone else has said Samuel Smiths pubs are worth looking for, as many do decent grub, their beers are good and prices tend to be reasonable. I also like The Lowlander on Drury Lane, though the beers there tend to be pricey.
If you're looking for good pub recommendations further out of the centre (I tend to know Angel / Camden and up towards Highgate) then shout and I'll suggest some more.0 -
