speakers gone on LG lcd 37" TV WHY ?

Hi, all
Any Ideas anyone. I was listenening to the radio through my LG 37" TV, about 2 1/2 years old and a great tv up till now.
A good song came on and i had to turn it up, it goes up to 100 and i turned it up to around 40 ish , just normal music levels really ( tv usually watched on level 8 ).
Everything fine no distortion or anything and suddenly sound just went off instantly , I have investigated all possibilities , mute functions, remote etc etc,
should i take back off tv ? i am thinking vibration dislodged a wire or something. or is it likely to be a component i will never diagnose.
Any help much appreciated, now listening to tv through a small ipod dock plugged into freeview box.

  • You've probably killed the speakers. My sis-in-law killed hers listening to music too loud on it.

The speakers in flat panel TVs aren't designed to play music with a lot of bass or beats very loud.
  • If thats the case may just be better to buy a set of pc speakers for a tenner:money:

I not joking, honest, but have you tried disconnecting the TV from the mains for a few minutes before trying again.
It should reboot the TV and could clear a possible software problem.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Thanks for your replies, yes i did try unplugging for a while, with no joy.
My tv only has a optical audio output so i dont think pc speakers will work.
probably have to try to get some cheap optical ones.if there is such a thing

I would look at getting a home cinema set up.

You can get those soundbars that are pretty small and I think some have optical and HDMI ports for getting sound in. Whether it's cost effective or desirable is another matter.

It may be that the audio amp has failed and could be repaired. Have you tried Googling your model and that fault to see what you find?

Why do people continue to lavish their eyes with beautiful pictures and punish their ears with horrible sound?!
Connecting your TV to any old stereo will improve the sound massively.
Soundbars start at £70 in Richer Sounds...
