Car insurance policy no claims help - 2 policies?

Hello!

I'm new to the site and was hoping I could get some advice about insurance and what I should do.

I did have 2 cars for but last year in February I got rid of my fun weekend ride as it was too costly with fuel/insurance/MOT/tax etc.

On my 'fun/weekend' car I had 5 years no claims when the policy expired in Feb 2011.

My other car that I take to work has 11 years no claims on the policy.

Now, my question. I am about to purchase a second car. Can I state on a new policy that I have 5 years no claims to put towards it? Or do you lose the no claims if you let a policy lapse?

You don't lose it (most insurers take it up to 2 years "old").

(You will need to prove you have 5 years.)
