Big bill after NPower Price Protector Tariff ends
Until recently I was on Npower's price protector tariff as I thought I was doing the best thing by getting a fixed price. They calculated me as only needing to pay £15 a month for both elec and gas. Maybe I should have questioned this but if that's what they want me to pay and with it been a fixed price then who am I to complain. How wrong I was after getting a letter saying now the tariff has ended I owe £600 because I've been paying less than I've been using and have taken £197 out for this month's bill!!
I thought the whole point of been on a a fixed price tariff was so it couldn't go up?? I may as well have just stayed on a normal tariff! Is there anyway I can get this money back or have I just been stupid and not understood the tariff properly?

£15 per month do you live in a shed?
i have a 3 bed house and I pay £40 on elec and £52 on gas
£15 is very low you should have questioned this0 -
Fixed price is for the price of each unit which will not change until the tariff end date. It does not fix how much you pay though as that depends on how many units you use. As always you need to monitor your bills and always make sure you give accurate readings for any estimated bills you recieve.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

You need to question what they have done to monitor and adjust your DD per Standard Licence Condition (SLC) 27.14 & 27.15.
See this link to Ofgem's site, use the supplier .PDF's.
http://www.ofgem.gov.uk/Licensing/Work/Pages/licence-conditions-consolidated.aspx
Did you switch to them, if so they need to accurately calculate your monthly payments or its a miss sale. See SLC25 about this.
So, you may need to raise a complaint.
Ultimately though, you have used it but they may offer a gesture of goodwill if it goes yo a complaint.
Is the bill a catch for more than a year? If so, there may be further possibilities.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Hi beverleyt,
I'm really sorry to hear about the problems you've had with your final bill.
I'd like to take a look at this, to find out what's happened here. Please can you send me your details to forumresponse@npower.com and I can get onto it right away?
Many thanks,

Yes I switched with Money Supermarket who told me my payments would be £15 per month. It is a catch up of a year but I was told there was a delay in sending me my statement so I got it a month late. All I've got is an apology and an offer to pay it back in instalments.
I assume this is classed as a mis-sell and I can complain to the ombudsman?0 -

You can complain to your supplier and after 8 weeks, take it to the ombudsman.
See my above points and read the SLC's so you understand what they should be doing. Post if you need help understanding anything.
If you are sold a contract without an accurate calculation or a reasonable estimate in absence of your last 12 months bills, yes, its a miss sale in a switch.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
