I tend to agree with Pippagirl. It'll be to arrange a medical. I expect the letter will come early next week. Try not to worry, easier said than done I know.

I've switched to Virgin, internet only. No phone line needed. £22 a month. Pointless paying for a phone line when I never ever used it!

    so it's cable then?

They did call me to arrange an appointment. I refused to tell them my NI number or my D.O.B. cos it could have been anyone phoning. So they then proceeded to tell me me my NI number and DOB when I could have been anyone. :rotfl:

My phone call was followed on by a letter, and a letter from me to them about breaching the DPA :)

Nice, you should have also reported them to the DPA.

I phoned the DWP and they haven't instigated an appointment.

Can ATOS do this just because they think you are due a medical assessment?

The man we have seen in the past is awful and always puts my OH in the WRAG and says he should be able to resume work in a few months, which is total bo$$ocks.

Would they actually call you in without having a recently comlpeted ESA50 form?

I told the man from the DWP that I had watched the Panorama and Dispatches programmes on ATOS and what a load of crooks they are:mad:

The ESA50 isn't necessary.. it's not a requirement in the process.. but it would be surprising if he wasn't to get one at this reassessment. When the DWP refer to appointment this could mean anything to be honest.. it'll be down to ATOS to determine if medical is necessary in order for them to provide opinion to DWP. There is a possibility that an ESA50 has gone astray. But obviously the chances of medical are increased if no ESA50 supplied, if supporting medical evidence not supplied and if no previous medical occurred. The prognosis issue is laughable sadly... it's nothing scientific... it ranges from 3 months to 3 years... it's little more than a selection from drop down menu and can bear no resemblence to actual medical prognosis.

Well I last completed an ESA50 for my OH in February and we heard absolutely nothing. However, the money was still paid into the bank, so I just presumed that they had decided from the information on the form that he didn't need a medical assessment.

It was ATOS who phoned me yesterday not DWP and, as DWP didn't seem to know anything about it, seems that ATOS have made the decision for a medical assessment all on their own (to get a bit more money from the taxpayer no doubt). Presumably ATOS wouldn't phone for any other reason than to haul you in and cause you untold stress:mad:

To be honest I just expected to receive another ESA50 in the post, not a telephone call.

This whole thing with benefits for the sick is getting beyond a joke, seems like the Govt are trying to solve the deficit problem from just disability benefits alone.

When you say DWP don't know about it...

did you phone the DWP only and ask the person you called?

or did you phone the DWP and ask for a callback from the benefit centre from someone who would know what they are talking about?

If the former, the person you called would not have seen any recent notes about a reassessment, there wouldn't be any, the only reference to it (if any at all) would be the notes left behincd the last time he passed a medical or won an appeal, and it would say something like "SG/WRAG awarded for 12 months from xx/xx/xxxx" which would indicate that the next assessment would be 12 months from xx/xx/xxxx.

You should call back and ask for a call back from benefit centre to advise you when his next reassessment is due.

I just spoke to the person I called, but he did seem quite helpful. How do you get a call back, is there a special number you have to phone?

    Thanks.

Yes. So I don't have a phone line and I don't have a TV package either, just the internet alone.
