Insurance Claim Help

Car Insurance Carver! Cashback Cashier
I woman reversed into my car a couple of weeks ago - she admitted liabilty and said she would pay for the damage. I got a quote for the work and now she has decided to go through her insurance company as the cost is more than she thought!
I have had a voicemail from her insurance company asking me to call them direct to discuss them paying for the damage without me contacting my insurance company and losing my no claims.

Surely I have to contact my insurance company and it is them who then make contact with her insurance company. I have a note and a txt from her admiitting liability and as my car was parked on my private driveway at the time I don't think there will be any dispute.

It just seems suspicious that her insurance company want to deal with me direct but I have never been in this situation before and so don't know what is normal - please help!

It's perfectly normal, just ring them and they will probably ask you to take it to one of their approved repairers.

yep, and equally you can take to a repairer of your choice.

The reason the insurer are keen to deal direct is if you claim via your insurance they will probably sell the claim to a credit hire/repair firm who'll try to have you in a hire car for 6 weeks and the whole thing will end up costing twice or three times what it should.

You can deal direct with the other insurer and there are advantages in doing so (no excess, temp loss of NCB, within reason you can pick the repairer, getting out of pocket expenses back is easier)

but here are also disadvantages the main one being if a problem arises then you have no access to the FOS & have to use the courts.

Whatever happens you do need to inform your insurer even if you don't use them to progress the claim
