I bought two items on ebay on 17 August. I chased both sellers on Monday with one replying yesterday and the other today. Both apologised profusely but the first seller's daughter had been in hospital and the second, her husband. They were apologetic and apologised but I just feel they are both stringing me a line. Would a neutral be too strong for this and should I just mark down on the stars?

Don't leave any feedback quite yet. Wait until you have had either a refund or the item delivered. Ask the sellers politely for a refund if they have not sent out the items.
Depending on further response, open a dispute. They will need to provide evidence of delivery or you get your money back.
That is then the time to leave feedback."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

What was the reply? Are they still for sale, out of stock, lost, damaged or sent?
As CQ says, feedback is the last thing to be worrying about now.0 -
Thanks for your replies. Both sellers have said they will send the items immediately. One hospital story I could almost believe, two seems unlikely (or I could just be cynical). The second one, whose husband had been in hospital, gave a very lengthy reply explaining what had happened, and this, together with moving house, meant she forgot. Would hate to leave bad feedback if the problems were genuine though.0

House moves take quite a while to got through. So when she listed the item she was fully aware that she would be having to despatch mid-move. That's one pointless excuse which leads me to think the husband in hospital line is just another sob story.
Leave feedback/stars accordingly, your experience of their despatch time was not positive after all.0 -
Give the items another week to arrive, then file non-receipt, then leave feedback of the colour of your choice.
I completely agree about proper timing. Some people expect to be able to sell when they feel like it - it's something not a lot of people give a lot of thought to, even though they are taking other people's money!"Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
