Switching from Eon to Scottish Power Nov 2013

Was happy with Eon for many years but have commenced the switch to Scottish Power because of a better deal and with no incentives to remain loyal to Eon after SaveOnline 9 ends.
I am well in credit with Eon from my DD payments. After the switch is completed will Eon automatically refund my credit with them to my bank account? I could ask Eon but, before enduring sales pitch to stay with them, would appreciate other switchers knowledge and experience. Many thanks.

When I left Southern I left the DD mandate open and received the refund direct into my bank account.

No need to go to the call centre if you are concerned about being passed to a retention team if the reps on here answer it for you.

Sorry it’s taken us a couple of days to get to you verntern :o

As long as you don’t cancel your Direct Debit, we’ll refund your money straight back to your bank account. This will happen automatically within 3 weeks of your final bill if we have accurate meter readings.

As you near the end of your switch, Scottish Power will contact you to ask for opening meter readings. It’s important that you provide these so they can send them to us to close your account.

It’s also worth noting that we don’t give discounts on final bills. This is due to change soon as part of our Reset programme but may not be in place in time for your switch.

There’s some great advice from my colleague Malc on this MSE thread on how to use your online account to get an interim bill with maximum discounts. You need to do this within your cooling off period with Scottish Power because we can’t bill you at all once the switch is in progress.

Hope this helps, if you need any further info let me know :)
