Just wanted a second opinion on what feedback people would leave...
Bought an item from a private seller which was stated as dispatched within 3 days (which is a fair amount of time in itself), but seller didn't post it until day 4. It's now turned up with the plastic mailbag badly ripped open, almost so that I'm lucky the item was still in it!
Postage overcharged was 80p - not a lot in itself but would have paid for 1st class postage instead of 2nd - and personally if I had dispatched something late I would have made the upgrade.
Am a little irritated by it all, and am wondering if a neutral is harsh? Or should I leave a positive with lower stars where appropriate? The item itself seems fine, but I do feel that this seller could do with improving their services a tad...

Contact the seller. Mention the packaging (was it caused by the position of the item in the bag - ie ripped by the item - or could that have been RM's fault?). See what kind of reaction you get before leaving feedback. While I might leave a 3 or a 4 without contacting a seller, I wouldn't ever leave non-positive without seeing how the seller responds. In this case, the dispatch would get 3, the postage might get a low (combination of overcharge and poor packaging), so I would let the seller know their packaging was inadequate and take it from there.
I wouldn't mention dispatch - I would be annoyed and mark low but there's nothing the seller can really do to remedy that situation, and as a rule I don't chase postage refunds of less than a couple of quid, I just mark stars accordingly and move on. But if I was annoyed enough to consider a non-positive feedback, and you probably have a case here, I would actually contact the seller and express my disappointment with their service before doing anything."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I left a neutral for an item that was wrapped in one sheet of brown paper and arrived in a 'Sorry your item arrived like this' bag from the RM.
It was a no contact neutral, the item was fine, didn't mark their stars down as there is no star for packaging. I got a load of abuse from the seller and they claimed my neutral was affecting their sale price etc, boohoo sob story etc.
I would definitely contact the seller first, just to see how they react.0 -

If you contact the seller you run the risk of them thinking you are trying to do some sort of extortion to leave positive feedback and then them reporting you to ebay. If you are confident you are being fair and accurate, leave the feedback you want to.0 -
I think I may have bought from this seller
My item was already a long dispatch time but was posted late, in a carrier bag which had split open and I paid double the actual postage cost. I emailed the seller and asked for a refund of the excess postage as it wasn't spent on packaging, they refused, the item was in good condition so I gave a neutral, explaining it was for p&p an marked the stars accordingly.

Why not leave feedback that you think is justified, and not someone elses opinion!Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!0
