  • Thanks for your replies.

Whilst on the phone the guy said I think I've noticed why your bills so high - your on economy 7 and you've just been charged day rate for both readings.

I asked so my bill will defineately go down?
"oh yes defineately- the day rate will stay the same but the night rate will half"

So I get my new bill today it's gone up by over £100 !!! The day rate went up from 11p to 14.88p and the daily charge has gone up from 20p to 26p
So now I've got 2 complaints a larger bill and I was mislead. All by there errors.

    Its so stressful

If you have a dual rate meter, EDF will only supply you a dual rate tariff. You appear to have originally chosen an inappropriate tariff for your type of meter.
You also shouldn't have had two registries on the online account to input if you were being billed on a single rate tariff ;)

Whilst the day unit rates of a E7 are often a little higher than a single rate, as are the standing charges, it is true that 7 hours (so almost 1/3 of the time) are supplied at a significantly lower rate, typically half price or less.

What actual tariff are you on now as I don't recognise 26p per day standing charge as a price EDF charge for an E7 meter?
  • I chose my tariff last September and it's locked in til 2014.
I correctly chose an e7 tarif and I correctly gave metre readings they billed me incorrectly charging me the standard tarif at 11.78p per unit for both day and night usage.

No problems, they should re-bill you on the tariff you agreed with them :)

... but I'd still be interested in which tariff they have billed you as I don't recognise the 26p per day standing charge.;)

They will have put you on a single rate for an E7 meter. This might have happened if your MPAN's supply number contained 01 on your bill.

What they did was wrong though because they knew you selected E7 so they should have at least discussed it with you.
