Basically ive just received my first jsa allowance last thursday , back in July i did a week's freelance work , which i have just been paid for by the company & it has been taxed.
Where do i stand with this money & still receiving my JSA allowance ?

You need to phone up and tell them about the work and the wages received.
If the work covered a one week period you will have an OP for the week

If the work was in July do they need to decare it if they weren't claiming then?0

I have debated this question with several DWP call centre people - some say that it is the date of receipt which is important, others say that it is the date when the work was done.

As the payment is for a period when you were not claiming JSA it should not be treated as income.. it should be treated as capital, which may or may not affect your entitlement dependant on how much capital/savings you have.
Capital under £6k = ignored
Capital £6-16k = £1 deducted from JSA for every £250 (or part £250) you have above £6k
Capital over £16k = no income-based JSA entitlement.0
